Father’s Love

Father’s Love

“I got a tattoo of my dad’s writing LOVE in Assyrian.

I decided to get it tatted because I was going through a rough time in my life. This wasn’t very long ago either. I didn’t feel like I was getting any love from people, as messed up as that may sound.

So I wanted to get something that I could remember my dad with, but also expresses who I am as a person. A lot of people tell me that I really wear my heart on my sleeve. I don’t really hold back my love. I wanted to immortalize my father. Because he has diabetes, and he doesn’t really take care of himself at all. And he lives in Phoenix so I barely see him.

[Did he know why you were asking for his writing]

I remember the conversation. I said ‘dad, how do you write’, we pronounce it as ‘Khooba’. He said, ‘Oh man Ray, if I give this to you are you gonna get it tatted?’ and I was like ‘ Yeah man, I’m gonna get it tatted immediately.’ The guy knew immediately.

And I even got it double checked by my cousin. I didn’t even trust my father that he wrote it right. He even told me to get it double checked.

I wanted it to be in his handwriting. I don’t think he’s gonna be around for very long.

I got the ink just a week ago.”
